Cycle 3 November 24th

Some groups finish their oral presentations, other are starting them soon.

We will also watch Home Alone 1 with a short listening comprehension.

We practise some grammar and read a story taken from this book:

The 7 Habits of Happy Kids

Cycle 2 November 24th

We are starting to write Christmas Cards.

We will play games, all related to Christmas and the writing competency for a few classes.

We will also sing a few songs.

Little Snowflake

Jingle Bells

The students also need to
1. Watch TV
2. Listen to the music
3. Play video games

in English of course.

Cycle 1 November 24th

I will post everything I want to cover with the grades 1 and 2 before Christmas but don't be surprise if your child did not cover some parts yet. Depending on the groups I cover faster some parts.

Prepositions (6 positional words)

IN   ON   UNDER   IN FRONT OF   NEXT TO   BEHIND

Santa, where are you?

Prepositions (6 positional words)

IN FRONT OF   UNDER   ON TOP OF   BEHIND   NEXT TO   INSIDE

The Wheels on the Bus (Pete the Cat)

Their favourite song these days (One of my favourite too!)

And of course we are also practising colours and school supplies, always :)

I will also soon give them a yellow sheet with important functional language to use in the classroom.
I am evaluating they communication in English during the second semestre. If students participate, sing the songs, repeat the words in class, use the yellow sheet in class, practise the vocabulary at home to use it in class, they should get a very good grade on this competency.

Homework

Students are still asked to do their other homework:
1. Watch TV
2. Listen to the music
3. Play video games

Always in English of course!

picture: http://www.moneymagpie.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/november.png

Sorry I have not posted anything in the last weeks, October was very busy!

We looked at Halloween Vocabulary (a black cat, a witch, trick-or-treat, a mummy, a skeleton, etc.) and we also watched many Halloween Songs. We practiced our listening comprehension with this amazing website:

One that we liked: Who Took the Candy? Song

We will now begin a new theme on Classroom Vocabulary and we will learn positional words (prepositions) such as under, between, on, around, etc.

To practice Classroom Vocabulary seen in class I'm adding the link to an amazing website to practice vocabulary. It's the fisrt cycle's list, but the second cycle is a bit longer because I added plurals (I will put the longer version soon).

Have a great November!

To sum up what we did, I would say to we reviewed the alphabet + colours and practiced the ''5 Little Pumpkins Sitting on a Gate''. We had to put the story back in order. We also had to match the text with the pictures.

To review the alphabet, I'm reposting the song we sing in class.

For November, we just started a new theme on Classroom Vocabulary.
Here is a short video we watched and sang in class (thanks to a colleague for sharing it wih me).

The 3 competencies will all be evaluated throughout the project (but focus will be put on Competency 2 since this one is graded on the first report card).

New Schoolyear (2014-2015)

Merci,

Mrs. Gabby

Why a blog?

Mrs. Gabrielle

Simply because I wanted to use an efficient way to share information with students, parents and colleagues. This will be the main purpose of the blog for now but I am sure I will eventually use it a lot more!

See you soon,
Mrs. Gabrielle

Here's a little Dr. Seuss Quote because I love him and beause I love my students.
